What's Bad For My Tattoo?
- Sunlight - the Ultra Violet rays in sunshine will break down the ink in your tattoo, just like leaving anything coloured out to the elements. Avoid sunbathing for 6 weeks after your tattoo to allow the top layer of skin to heal. Whenever sunbathing cover your tattoo with sun-block so you keep your colour for years to come.
- Sunbeds - just as bad, if not worse, as natural sunlight for all the same reasons.
- Swimming Pools/Hot Tubs - firstly the Chlorine in Pools & Hot Tubs can bleach the colour in your new Tattoo. While your Tattoo is healing you are also at risk from bacteria so treat as you would any healing wound.
- Baths - if possible, showering is the best option for you while your Tattoo is healing. A scab needs to form over your Tattoo and shed in it's own natural time. Soaking in a bath can soften the scab and it may detach from the skin quicker than it should and you run the risk of removing colour from your Tattoo. If a bath is your only opton be careful when drying your Tattoo in order to not remove the skin prematurely.
